Sub-Saharan Africa is a huge country consisting of 54 autonomous nations with great potentials for change. There are many Africa's efforts to fight disease and livelihoods, and to avoid civilian wars and corruption, despite their abundance of physical assets and rapid demographic and recession. KOICA is supporting the socio-economic developments in Africa, in particular in sub-Saharan Africa and the least advanced nations, in order to speed up their democratisation and liberty.

Following the announcement of Korea's Initiative for Africa's Growth in 2006, we have extended our co-operation activities by stepping up aid, expanding our aid for primary and professional training and exchanging Korea's most advanced ICT with Africa's nation. In recent years, KOICA has redoubled the amount of aid to Africa and plans to increase the amount of aid from 24% to 35% by 2020.

KOICA made 166 million US dollar available to Africa's partners in 2016, which corresponds to 17.3% of KOICA's overall costs. We offer different industry policies for each of our partners on the basis of their levels of social cohesion, culture and needs. KOICA is implementing various educational, health, agriculture and fisheries related programmes in sub-Saharan Africa.

KOICA has so far opened 16 foreign branches in Africa and is planning to open further branches with experienced professionals. KOICA, as a conscientious member of the international fellowship, will further promote African sustainable development through systemic policies adapted to the needs and demands of each state. CPS is available for the following 7 African countries:
