ohat ( "Urdu": ?????), is a town in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces of Pakistan, which acts as the capitol of the Kohat district. It is considered the center of the Bangash Pashtun people, who have been living in the area since the end of the fifteenth cent. Kohat's immediate surroundings were the scene of numerous conflicts between colonial troops and indigenous people in the mid-19th centuries.

Today, the modern Kohat is a medium-sized town with a settlement of around 270,000 inhabitants, concentrated in a fortress from the UK, various barracks and a former canton. The Tanda Wildlife Reserve is situated near the town of Kohat. All in all, the area of the reserve is 2800 acre, comprising the Tanda Dam and its catchment areas in Kohat.

It is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's biggest game reserve. You can reach the NP via the Hangu-kaghazi Metal Route, Shahpur-Bar Street, 18 km from Kohat. The Kohat Airbase (IATA: OHT, ICAO: OPKT) is a Pakistani airbase that began as a British airstrip. In the past, PIA used the Havilland Twin Otter airfield, although Kohat is no longer serviced by business people.

The Kohat is an important junction on the N-55 Indus motorway, which links Peshawar with Karachi, and the N-80 motorway, which links Kohat with Islamabad. Completion of the 1.9 km Kohat Channel in 2004 [19] links the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Peshawar counties in the south. The Japan-assisted construction of the Kohat Pass shortened the journey time dramatically.
