The Hpa-an is a capitol of the state of Kayin. From Yangon over a new bridge ("Thanlwin") over the Thanlwin River. The Hpa-an is a small city, but a bustling trading centre where you can see farmers in horse carts or trishaw's, piled up with cages or meshes to be sold at the fair.
Kayin is most of the group. Thandaung is the main city in the north. This is the landmark of the Kayin state. The Kawgun Cave is situated near Kawgun Lake District, which is two kilometers from Hpa An State. It' a limestone cave and is 200 ft high and 300 ft long.
On the rocks there are many different types of sound Buddha pictures and Votivtables. It' a scarce cave in lower Myanmar. The Buddha paintings can be dated to the fifteenth c. A.D. Hanthawaddy time.
