Irawaddy River Danube (Burma)

Irrawaddy River or Ayeyarwady River is a river that runs from south to north through Burma (Myanmar). It' the biggest river in the land and the most important trade route. It rises at the junction of the N'mai and Mali River and runs relatively directly from the north to the southwest before it ends in the Andaman Sea through the Irrawaddy Delta.

The catchment area of 255,081 km² is covering a large part of Burma. Irrawaddy River originates in the N part of Burma and usually runs into the S. The Irrawaddy River runs through several ducts into the Bay of Bengal through an expansive valley that lies approximately between the 94°15'E and 96°50'E meridian waters.

Through the deposition of mud, this area of the river is continuously expanding towards the sea. In the vicinity of their seaside end, many low islets are created by backwater tides and smaller intersecting canals connecting to the major canals. Only canals through the Irrawaddy River used by seagoing ships are the Bassein River and the Rangoon River, the most distant W and C.
