Where to get to Inle Lake from.....
A lot of folks ask how far Inle Lake is from Yangon, but that will depend on the means of transportation you use. It' about 650km from Yangon and takes about 7-9 hrs in a personal cab. However, it is a favourite touristic itinerary and there are many other ways to get from Inle Lake to Yangon.
To Yangon by train: the least recommendable way to get to Inle lake: the trip is long, sluggish and unpleasant. When you really want the'train experience', it is a good idea to make only the Kalaw-Inle Lakes section, as this is already a rough 5-hour-trip. To Yangon by coach:
From Yangon to Inle Shores, you can sleep in a covered hide for about $18 on a 10-hour drive. More about this trip and the best coach I took in Myanmar you can find here. Flying from Inle Lake to Yangon: Dayly services operate between Yangon and Heho, Inle Lake's own international airfield.
Flying takes about an hours and a half, but don't lose sight of the amount of flying both sides have done. Yangon transport can take an hours to get from the Yangon International Airports to the town. At the other end, take a cab or one of the buses from Heho to Inle Lake or Ngaung Shwe, as it is very far away.
To fly is an expensively way to make this voyage. Where is Inle Sea from Bagan? The next excursion to Bagan is Inle See, which is located on the touristic itinerary, it is about 350km. There' s a souvenir Inle Lakes to Bagan coach, or more and more'tourist coaches'. They both take the same amount of 8-10 hrs and run every day and over night.
Heho is the city' s main international airfield to Inle Lake. Bagan has the Nyaung U International Bagan International Bagan International Park. You can hike from Inle Lake to Kalaw for 2 or 3 nights (more information here). There' s also a shuttle service that lasts a few hour or a long 5 hour time.
