How many states in BurmaLike many states in Burma

One of the main topics of this year's General Assembly is, among other things, the strengthening of the provision of emergency aid, in particular for those receiving them. This new financing will bring US relief efforts for IDPs in Burma and Burmese migrants in the area to nearly $95 million in 2017, reflecting the US engagement to tackle the unparalleled scale of human hardship and urgency for the Rohingya population.
We appreciate the government of Bangladesh's generous response to this serious human rights problem and appreciate its continuing effort to make sure that the aid is reaching the needs. There has been a huge flow of arrivals of hundreds as many as one thousand displaced persons, a strain on natural and man-made ressources and a strain on relief organisations and inequalities. US humanitary aid is supporting the United Nations, other multinational organisations and non-governmental organisations active throughout the area.
Burmese Population Movements | Health of Immigrants and Refugees
Myanmar migrants are accommodated in Thai refugee camp or in Malaysian townhouses. The refugee camp in Thailand is situated along the Thai Myanmar frontier, while the refugee camp in Malaysia mainly lives in Kuala Lumpur (Figure 2). Most of the Myanmar migrant population comes from the country's various ethnical minorities, including Chin, Kachin, Karen, Mon, Rakhine, Shan and Wa.
Myanmar migrants began to move to the United States in large numbers in 2008. Between 2008-2014, some 109,000 Myanmar migrant workers came to the United States from warehouses and cities in Thailand and Malaysia (Figure 3). In the past, most of the country's displaced persons were from Thai centres, but are now moving more and more from rural areas in Malaysia.
Myanmar migrants have also been relocated from non-Malaysia and Thailand. Between 2008-2014, more than 117,000 Myanmar migrants were relocated to the United States. Most of Burma's displaced persons have been relocated from Thailand and Malaysia, less from other asylands. Myanmar migrants have been relocated to several different states in the United States, with the vast majority relocated to ten particular states (Figure 4).
