Myanmar Yangon - Cheap Hotels and Pensions
Housing in Yangon is very expensive in comparison to its Southeast Asia neighbors, making it much more difficult to find budgetary choices unless you are satisfied with something very fundamental. Whereas a proper B&B in a guest house in Thailand can only be $15 per room per night, in Yangon the corresponding standards would probably be at least $20 to $25 and probably do not involve breakfasts and even only provide a common bath room.
This means that during a trip to the cities it is not common to waste a lot of quality lodging in your room, so it may be worthwhile to check out the lower fares if you want to make a few trips with your changes and make some savings. Most reasonably priced hotels and guest houses in the center are located in the center, which can be a little harsh and willing, but is a great centrally located and close to many restaurants and pubs.
The majority of the attractions in this part of the town are accessible, so you can also safe your transportation costs. 20th Street Hostel (No. 23, 20 Street Lower Block, Lathar Township) is centrally located near Strand Rd. with welcoming and helpful people and good value for your investment around the edge of Chinatown.
The hostel Agga (No. 86, No. 123 Street, Middle Block, Lanmadaw Township), also in the town centre, provides dormitories from 8 USD and is very well-valued. Some plots are located a little further out of town in the municipality of Baham on Kandawgyi which is a beautiful area of the town and much calmer and more tranquil than the town centre, while some opt to remain much further up and closer to Inya.
When you live outside the town in one of the more secluded places, it is very simple and inexpensive to take a cab. You can arrange these with your hotelier, or just take the road and in most cases you will find one within a few-minute time. He or she will be happy to take you to the touristic places in the town.
To create a calmer ambience, jump over the city center and try Yangon Hub (Aung Myay Tharzi 1): about 6 km outside the center, but also offering lowest dormitory rates. Most of the up-and-coming midrange and flash packer accommodations are around Sule and Shwedagon Payas. The Cherry Guesthouse (No. 278/300, Maha Bandoola Garden Street, Upper Block) is a short walk from the end of backpackers' accommodations, yet still affordable.
It' s recently refurbished, in the centre of the city. The Aung Tha Play Hotel (No. 74/80, 38. and Merchant Sts, Kyauktada Township), another cozy place between Sule Paya and the riverbank, is quite tranquil with unusually large rooms and is situated in a historical-buildings. The May Shan Hotel (115 Sule Pagoda Rd) is situated two minutes from Sule and is cosy and well-appointed.
Luxurious residences are usually in old converted old farmhouses, often on the banks of the lake or with lake-view. Necklaces such as Shangri La and the Savoy have found their way into the town in recent years and provide top-level shelter. A touristic destination in its own right, The Strand (92 Strand Rd.), this spectacularly renovated and breathtaking riverfront coulown.
From the rooms to the meal, it provides total luxurious. Belmond Governor's Residence (35 Taw Win Road; Dagon Township) opposite the Lao Embassy is another good option in the upper group. Whilst the views are not as astonishing as those of The Strand, it is a wonderful old rural resort with picturesque terrain, a swimming pool and hot, welcoming services - also loved for the sound experience!
The Savoy Hotel Yangon (129 Dhammazedi Road) is situated about one kilometer north-east of Lake Kandawgyi. Situated in another old, redesigned building, it provides a classical experience: everything you would want from the Savoy region with genuine allure. Burma Solo Travel - Should You Go?
