?Travel?Travel Yangon and Bago - Is it a safer place for backpacker tourists?
So what is your first glimpse of this land - Myanmar? Located next to Thailand, Myanmar has not yet identified its travel destinations in comparison to Thailand and was named the least advanced nation in the UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development).
Allow me to tell you some of my experience during my brief journey to Yangon and Bago with my friends. For Malaysians wishing to travel to Myanmar afterwards, please make sure you have a current permit before leaving for Myanmar. In Myanmar, the money used is known as Kyat, which we do not have available in our foreign exchange trading.
So, get enough of US$ and you can go to the Forex counter as soon as you arrive at Yangon Aiport. When we had left our rucksacks at the Yangon Youth Hotel, we went to enjoy the traditional food on the streets to end the outing. When I talk about the town' s cleanness, I've seen folks hanging around and pissing on the streets while we were passing by.
In Myanmar most of us do not communicate in English, we have spent most of our times communicating through physical reason. The four of us drove back to our youth hostel on another trail after supper and on the way back we pass the Sule Lagod. It' a small citadel in the center of Yangon, encircled by lively roads and old houses from Yangon's Colonian period, such as the Supreme Courthouse and Yangon Mayor.
After waking up at 6 a.m. to take the early 8 a.m. to Bago and the Golden Rock. Before Bago was known as Pegu. The journey from Yangon to Bago took 2h. We' had reserved the'First Class' seating and this is what the interior of the Myanmar Railway looks like.
Myanmar Railway Exteriors. When leaving the railway terminal, a "taxi" was in front of the railway terminal, but the cab is full before it leaves. Kyaiktiyo Mountain (Kyite Htee Yoe), renowned for the giant gold cliff on its top, is one of the three holiest places of worship in Myanmar.
Four of us chose to have a cup of tee in one of the shops in the area before returning to the city. The next day we took the coach back to Yangon. Returning we stop in the city of Bago to see some Stupa, walk over the Bago square etc.
The most of the couples here have a donations boxes, in which you can make a gift, because the amount is used for the maintenance of the couples. Returning to Yangon we went to Shwedagon and Bogyoke Market, Aung San Suu Kyi House and the evening before our departure we chose a delicious dinner at Karaweik Palast, a place where we could enjoy genuine dining and folklore music.
