Ethiopian Airlines, as an Ethiopian airline, has become one of the top airlines on the continents, unrivaled in terms of efficiencies and operating excellence and profitable for most years of its inception. thiopian Airlines was founded on December 21, 1945. Ethiopia was one of the first airlines in Africa to start operating DC-3/C-47s.
Today it is one of Ethiopia's most important industry and an organisation in Africa that operates a state-of-the-art and environmentally sound fishing fleets. This is the lion's share of the pan-African grid, which includes the only everyday east-west service over the entire continental area. Ethiopia's networks span Europe, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle Eastern region and Asia, linking towns around the world.
It is currently executing its 15-year Vision 2025 strategy with the aim of becoming the premier aerospace company in Africa. As of January 2011, Tewolde GebreMariam has been Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines. Mr. H. began his carrier in 1985 as a transportation agent at Ethiopian and served in a number of executive roles in various departments of the company, including: Ethiopian Cargo, Area Offices and Sales.
He became Ethiopian's Chief Operational Officer on July 1, 2006 to oversee all operational areas of the Group. He was the first African carrier chief executive to win The Airlines Strategy Award for Regional Leadership in July 2013. This award is presented each year by Flight Global, the world's premier aerospace news group.
He was also honoured by the 2015 International Grand Prix in Milan for his contribution to the airline's development into the leading airline in Africa. A graduate of Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, he holds a B.A. in Economics and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Open University in the UK.
