ERITRANEAN - Climate
Heritrea is situated on the highest land mass of the entire Africa continents. Consequently, the Eritrean highland is improving. Heritrea has different climates. Asmara, at 2,350 metres (7,700 feet), has a comfortable year round weather (average 16° Celsius (60Â Fahrenheit)) and has a 20-inch (508 mm) foliage per year.
Eritrea: The warmest months in the highland, further up-country, with altitudes between 1,800 and 2,100 metres (5,900 and 6,900 feet) is usually May (approx. 30°) and in winter (December to February) the nights are close to freezing. From June to September at an altitude along the coastline (Massawa, Assab) it is very warm (40-50°).
Between December and February (rainy season) the climate fluctuates between 20 and 35°. Massava at elevation has an mean seasonal rainfall of 205 mm (80 inches) and an elevated mean of 30° Celsius (86° Fahrenheit). Westerly lowland (Agordat, Barentu) has similar low coastal weather and wetland.
While Eritrea is a year-round highland tourist resort, in other places it is dependent on where you spend most of your holiday or what you want to do. It is the country where you can enjoy three different periods of the year in just two hrs - from the steep summits of Emba Soira to the dry dessert temperatures of the Danakil Depression (100 metres below the surface and one of the world' s hot spots) and the chilly breeze of the Red Seas.
Whilst clothes vary according to the season and whether you are in the uplands or on the shore, it is best to keep in mind that Eritreans always wear their best, with office uniforms being common. Lowland visitors need lightweight cottons, sun glasses and hats, while the highland requires lightweight or medium-weight outfits.
A lightweight raincover and parasol can be useful during the wet period, and a pullover is best suited for cool afternoons. It can be very sunny at high altitude and a highly effective tan and/or long -sleeved garment is important. NOTICE: There is a broad variety of textiles that are convenient for both warm and cool weather in your area.
Bringing a few additional bucks to Eritrea instead of additional gear can be useful. The purchase in Eritrea will not only boost the domestic population. You can also use the garments you buy in Eritrea as a beautiful gift.
