VDP | Village Development Planning (VDP)
VDP is an action of the Department of Rural Development of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation of Myanmar. Initiatives were started in early 2015 with the objective of supporting and facilitating the human-centered participative community development programming processes, identifying community development priority areas and mobilising funds to meet financial needs for the evaluated area.
There are two tools in the VDP family. Among them is the Dorfentwicklungsplan, which provides a five-year, medium-term socio-economic frame for rural and people-centred development. In this early phase, the VDP is designed on the base of 48 socio-economic programming charts. Secondly, the Annual village investment program (AVIP) transforms a VDP into viable program activity to contribute to rural economies' development and the fight against povernour.
AVIP is conducted once a year, in September, synchronously with the government's budgetary cycles. By September 2017, the VDP trial had been extended to 5,300 communities in 29 of the country's 298 rural communities. Each VDP was included at its local authority levels and the VDP was coordinated and incorporated with the Department's budgets.
This is how the state reacts to the needs and priority assessments of the villages. VDP's web-based data base consists of two data base systems: one is the socio-economic data base of the VDP and the other the VDP projects data base.
