Canadian University Lists

Colleges in Canada are founded and work under the charter of the Province Council. The majority of our colleges are members of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC). Titled "University" is covered by the Swiss Ordinance. 1 ] Canadian higher educational establishments are prohibited by the laws and regulations of the provinces from becoming undergraduates.

Every university in Canada is independent in academia, which includes the guidelines and processes for assuring the effectiveness of its programmes, faculty and processes. The University of Canada and the University Province Council Charta are considered a substitute for institutionally accredited institutions, both in Canada and abroad. Fifty-eight of Canada's counties have set up institutions offering a second tier of excellence in university.

Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Labrador have no local QA offices. Alberta University has the highest number of graduates registered in Alberta. Edmonton, the state' s main town, is home to the University of Alberta, the biggest university in the county, and Grant MacEwan University. In Edmonton are also the King's University and the Concordia University of Edmonton (not to be mixed up with Concordia University in Montreal).

Saint-Jean is part of the University of Alberta and offers programs for Francophoon and Francophoone-student. Calgary has two universities: Calgary University and Mount Royal University. Lethbridge University is located in Lethbridge, but also has a Calgary school. The Athabasca University, a correspondence university, has been located in Athabasca since 1970.

Founded in 1907 in Leduc, Burman University in Lacombe is the oldest university in Alberta. The Alberta government gave them the go-ahead to move from "University College" to "University" stat. Over the past few years, King's University and Concordia University of Edmonton have been given the opportunity to shift their name from university to university.

University of British Columbia has the highest number of undergraduates in West Canada. Founded in 1818, the Université de Saint-Boniface is the oldest university in Manitoba and the only French-speaking university in the west of Canada. British Columbia has eleven state and five privately funded colleges. There are three major publicly funded colleges, Capilano University, the University of the Fraser Valley and Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and the Quest University Canada, which are primarily subgraduate institutes. The New York Institute of Technology and Fairleigh Dickinson University, two U.S.-based privately held Vancouver University, are both mainly for college and university graduates in Vancouver.

Its oldest university is the University of British Columbia, founded in 1908[10], with its newest large Okanagan university, founded in 2005. On September 1, 2008, five British Columbia institutes were formally appointed as universities:[11] Capilano University, Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, University of the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island University.

Enrolments in British Columbia range from Quest University Canada with 700 students[12] to the University of British Columbia with 45,484 of them. Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning is the largest supplier of on-line and remote learning in BC. Given the student enrollment rate, Thompson Rivers University's enrollment is 22,036 (8964 of which is distance).

Manitoba has seven colleges under the Ministry of Education and Literacy. Five of these are in Winnipeg, the provincial capitol and biggest town, Booth University College, Canadian Mennonite University, University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and Université de Saint-Boniface.

Founded in 1818, the University of Saint-Boniface is the oldest university in the provinces and the only French-speaking university in the west of Canada. Founded in 1982, Booth University College is one of the newest. The Brandon University is situated in the west town of Brandon in Manitoba. The University College of the North in the north of Manitoba is home to The Pas and Thompson municipalities.

There are 12 smaller satellites serving 12 other smaller centres, 9 of which are located on First Nations. Enrolments in Manitoba range from Booth University College with several hundred to the University of Manitoba with 26,800 undergraduates. New Brunswick University has the highest number of undergraduates in the provinces. New Brunswick has eight hired colleges, four state colleges [14] administered by the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Employment[15], and four privately funded colleges, one of which is Yorkville University, an on-line university.

It has the awards of the first English-speaking university in Canada and the first open university in North America (University of New Brunswick);[16] and also the first university in the British Empire to confer a Bachelor's in 1875 (Mount Allison University);[17]St. Thomas University and University of New Brunswick have campsites in the provincial capitol Fredericton and UNB also runs a campsite in Saint John.

St. Thomas University is the only university in the provinces that does not provide postgraduate programmes. Founded in 1785, the University of New Brunswick is the oldest university in the county, and the Université de Moncton is the newest, founded in 1963, although it dates back to 1864 through one of its three forerunners.

The enrollment range from Mount Allison University with 2,486 enrolments to the University of New Brunswick with 10,587 undergraduates. Crandall University is the biggest of the three privately owned colleges with an estimated 1,200 undergraduates. St. Stephen's University, another privately owned university, is in St. Stephen, NB. The Memorial University of Newfoundland is the biggest university in Atlantic Canada.

University of King's College is the oldest university in Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia has 10 colleges. Six of them - Atlantic School of Theology, Dalhousie University, Mount Saint Vincent University, NSCAD University, Saint Mary's University and University of King's College - are situated in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the province's capitol and Canada's foremost town.

Its oldest university is the University of King's College, founded in 1789, while the newest is Cape Breton University, founded in 1974. The number of graduate and postgraduate studies in Nova Scotia varies from 150 at the Atlantic School of Theology to more than 18,000 at Dalhousie University. The Université Sainte-Anne, the 10th university, is in Pointe-de-l'Église and teaches its French-curricula.

Toronto University has the biggest populations of canadians. In Ontario, Canada, there are 22 officially financed higher educational establishments with post-secondary schooling. 23 ] With the exemption of the Royal Military College of Canada, Ontario University' Application Centre is used by Ontario's graduate school.

There are also 24 public schools, most of them financed by public funds, most of them as Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, and five as Institutes of Technology and Advanced Learning, all of which are generally described as Collages. Twelve universities offer 74 Bachelors courses, as of 2012-13. Founded in 1827, the University of Toronto is the oldest university in Ontario.

Ontario's newest university is Algoma University, which was founded in 2008 after Laurentian University became independent. As for enrollment, the biggest university is the University of Toronto, which has three locations[24]. City of Toronto, York University, has over 100,000 undergraduate, the second biggest university in inscription.

U15 Group of Canadian Research Unions is based in Ottawa. Founded in 1663, Université Laval is the oldest post-secondary institute in Canada. The McGill University is the oldest English-speaking university in the Quebec County. In Quebec, which is mainly French-speaking, there are 18 colleges, 10 of which are part of the NV.

Québec's institutions are not dependent on the state and are self-governing in their work. Through laws or constitutions, the legislature has given each university the liberty to determine its own syllabus and to create its own curricula and research programmes. It has full authority to determine the prerequisites for admissions, award diplomas and recruit staff.

Three of the eighteen colleges are English-speaking: McGill University, Université Concordia, Université McGill et Université Bishop's. the École de Technologie Suppérieure, École Polytechnique de Montréal, HEC Montréal, Université de Montréal and Université du Québec à Montréal - are in Montreal, Quebec's most populous town, and the main centre of the state, the United States, is home to five of them, École nationalen d'administration publique, Institute for Scientific Research, TÉLUQ and Université Laval - are headquartered in Quebec City, the provincial capitol.

Laval University, founded in 1663, is the oldest university in the area. University of Quebec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue (1983), Concordia University (1974), École de technologie superérieure (1974), Téluq (1972, 2005 mit UQÀM fusioniert, 2012 aufgeteilt). The number of undergraduates in the Quebec region range from the Institut nationale de la recherche scientifique with 480 undergraduates to the University of Montréal with 55,540 (but this number also comprises HEC and Polytechnique, which are separate legal universities).

Of all the provincial colleges, the University of Saskatchewan has the highest enrollment rates. The University of Saskatchewan has three colleges. 14 ] The Government of Saskatchewan must adopt by-laws for the award of academic degrees; these by-laws determine the authorities of each of the institutions, their rules and by-laws. The First Nations University of Canada and the University of Regina are both in Regina, the provincial capitol, and the University of Saskatchewan is in Saskatoon, the most populated metropolitan area in Saskatchewan.

Its University of Saskatchewan is the oldest university in the county, and the First Nations University of Canada is the newest, and it was formed in 1976. Saskatchewan' s University of Saskatchewan is also the biggest university in Saskatchewan with 18,620 undergraduates, and the First Nations University of Canada (FNUC) is the smallest with 840 only.

First Nations University is the only university in Canada that meets the needs of First Nations undergraduates. Initially it was named Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, and after its establishment it signed an accord with the University of Regina to establish the Saskatchewan Indian Federal College (SIFC).

The agreement enabled the FNUC to become an autonomously managed university collegium serving First Nations undergraduates. 29 ] The First Nations University of Canada is the only university in the provinces that does not provide postgraduate programmes.
