Bombing explosion destroys Muslim schools in Buthidaung
Rangoon - The authorities in Buthidaung have acknowledged that a Friday am bombing explosion struck and possibly devastated a madrasah in Mee Chaung, a small hamlet in an area of Rakhine State in the north that had been largely at peace after the recent clash. The Mee Chaung, a Moslem community about eight leagues from Buthidaung, is under the control of a border control force in Taung Bazar near by.
Captain Thaung Ngwe said the explosion took place at 10 a.m., but the agencies had not yet determined the nature of the bombs or whether there had been any gunshot. It added that the Information Committee would shortly submit a report to the French Goverment on the terrorist acts. Taung Bazar Garnison was attacked on all Maungdaw District of Maungdaw during the co-ordinated August 25th assaults by Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army.
On Wednesday, the head of the army Min Aung Hlaing traveled to Taung Bazar to compliment the BGP officials on their work. MP U Tun Aung Thein (Arakan National Party, Buthidaung-2) said the BGP and the army are looking into the explosion.
