Bus Mae Sot to Myawaddy

Mae Sot to Myawaddy by bus

From Chiang Mai take a bus to Mae Sot. Hitchhike (or take a taxi) to the border. Those pickup buses said they weren't taking people to the border. About to leave Thailand for an adventure in Myanmar.

Myanmar Frontier Post > Thailand, Myawaddy to Mae Sot - Myanmar Forum

Hi everyone, I will be in Yangoon, Myanmar in February and then drive to Chiang Mai. It' possible to pass the boundary at Mae Sot/Myawaddy? 2, it is secure to pass the boundary at this place, especially nowadays? When there is a bus from Yangoon to Chiang Mai or when I have to transfer from Yangoon to Myawaddy and then from Mae Sot to Chiand Mai?

It' secure and possible to pass the frontier at Mae Sot/Myawaddy. There''s no bus directly from Yangon to Chiang Mai. 2- yes, of course.....even more `today' Hi Louise, safely safety....... Yes, there is a straight bus, but ChangMai-Chileik frontier. Arrange with your last option: Yangon to Myawaddy by bus and drive from Maesot to ChangMai to the interior of Thailand.

Mae Sot Border Crossing - Myanmar Forum

It took about 2.5 hours, although we were said that it would take 3-4 hours on rough and winding highways. We had to leave the cab on the road, where we had to run 100m to the Myanmar/Boorder. Simply crossing the viaduct, you will arrive at the Thai frontier, which can be reached on foot in about 5 minutes.

It' simple and fast with minimum wait as this is still a relatively new way to get to Thailand, so not many visitors use this itinerary. If you are like us and have not changed any currency in front of you, there are some ATMs after you have crossed the boarder, either by turning to your right and going down the road or just going ahead when you leave the touks and go by.

When we drove to Chiang Rai, we had to bring a touc touk to the mini bus terminal (not to the bus terminal, mini bus terminal is about 4 km away from the bus terminal Mae Sot), because the only bus from Mae Sot to Chiang Rai departs at 7 am, but we reached at about 10 am.

There is a mini bus to Tak (78 Baht per person) that goes to Chiang Rai every hours, but since Tak is only a fast stopover, there is no way to make sure there is room on the bus, we were lucky enough to get on the first bus that came to Chiang Rai.
