Taïwan loosens visas for six-year-olds.....
The ROC visas for persons from ASEAN countries Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam will be loosened as of September 1. Citizens of non-ASEAN India will also profit from this. These adaptations are made after consultation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Immigration Office and the Tourist Office to allow further interaction with the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Currently, citizens of Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand are enjoying visa-free travel to Taiwan. Cambodian, Indian, Indonesian, Laos, Myanmar, Philippine and Vietnam citizens holding or holding passports in possession of allowances granted by Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, the Schengen Agreement signatory, the United Kingdom or the United States, or holding a visas or residence permits from any of these states that are in force or have lapsed within 10 years of the anticipated date of Taiwanese immigration may now use the online application form for R.O.C. (Taiwan) Travel Authorization Certificate.
In order to increase the number of beneficiaries of the facilitated visas for major group tourism from Southeast and Southeast Asia and India, the on-line request will be made available to qualifying groups of Cambodian, Indonesian, Lao, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam and India from September 1. Agents who represent groups from the above listed destinations can apply via https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw/BOCA_MRVWeb/ after they have received permission from the tourism office's foreign agents.
Both of these ROC easing arrangements for citizens of these six South East Asia and India are a follow-up to an experimental programme that provided visa-free travel for Thai and Brunei citizens for 30 days and was put into effect on 1 August. At the same time, MOFA mandated its South East Asia bureaus to take steps to apply multiple-entry nationality passports for at least two years to citizens of their country's upper-income group.
It is hoped that these programmes will lure more travellers to Taiwan to undertake short-term travel, corporate travel, visiting family members and engaging in culture exchange. The MOFA is aimed at further strengthening interaction between Taiwan and ASEAN member states and India while at the same time establishing a people-centred New Southbound Policy.
