Budgeted Backpackers Stays - Review of Mingalarbar Hostel, Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar
Extremely friendly personnel on arriving, the master room has hive-like bedding, calm and very neat, bath including. There are a few small desks near the bed where you can chat with other guests and a small terrace on the ninth fl oor. All I can say is good, except for the service listing that involves renting a bicycle, but they had no clue how to get it, maybe because bicycles are not permitted in Yangon city centre.

Burma 2 weeks itinerary and budget! WEDNESDAY 1: Yangon, Inle Lake and Mount Popa
Our two-week Myanmar tour took us many long hours to plan our travel and set the budgets for our journey. From Yangon to Lake Inle to Mount Popa to Bagan to Mandalay we found our ideal Myanmar tour and spend two days there. In order to help each of you Myanmar travelers out there, we wanted to split our itinerary: everything from our routing, the transportation we used, the places we slept in, the places we saw and how much we used.
This itinerary is built on Myanmar's classical triangular itinerary. Lodging: Our room contained an aerodrome shuttle, 2 items of linen per night and a snack and drink in the club lounge. We enjoyed the situation and spend a lot of quality leisure in the quiet haven of Kandawgyi Park near by.
We had a driver/car available for $70 for daily excursions and we liked the air-conditioned excursions between the places we selected and some of our driver's great suggestions. From Bangkok to Yangon by Thai Airways (cost: EUR 170 per person): We arrive in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi early in the morning from Dublin and have decided on a later departure from the same airpor.
This is probably a less expensive alternative, as Air Asia uses Don Mueang International for its services to and from Myanmar. We have found a good offer for a club room in the Chatrium and our room price includes a shuttle from the Aiport to the hotels.
Lodging: Khatrium lodgings. View our other popular Yangon luxurious properties here. Privately booked chauffeur by resort (costs $70 for 12 hours): that was a total of $70, as we saw most of Yangon's attractions in one single afternoon and it was great not having to take care of transportation.
Beverages with a Sakura Tower view: This top storey drink shop offers a great Yangon look and a great place for an evening of drinking! Cocktail at the Strand Hotel: The beach is an Iconical 5 Stars Beach in Myanmar and the cocktail was very good! Taxicab to coach terminal (cost $12):
The Aung Minaglar Highway coach station is about an hr outside Yangon. Inle Lake VIP Overnight Coach with JJ Express (Cost: $20 per person): Overnight coaches are a great way to travel around the countryside cheap while you sleep and save a night's board. From Yangon to Inle Lake the coach took about 12h.
Lodging: Overnight at the wonderful Inle Princess Resort on the shore of Inle Lake. For our trips on the lake we liked to be collected at the hotels own dock! It' the ideal option if you are looking for some deluxe in Inle Lake. Have a look at our rating of this nice property here.
There are other great lakeside hotels: The Myanmar Treasure Resort: Situated on the shores of the Inle Princess Hotel, this range of luxurious rooms offers a magnificent sea front panoramic sunset setting on Inle Lake. The Villa Inle Spa & Resort: a breathtaking setting further down by the Inle reservoir, this residence offers a wonderful views over the reservoir and the scenery from a number of large, arrow-shaped mansions with views of the canal.
From the Inle stop to the lodge (cost 15.000 kyat): our overnight coach reached Inle at 6 a.m. and the only means of transportation were some tuuk touks waiting for the coach to arrive. Lodging: lnle Lakes Princess Resorts. Have a look at our rating of the property here. Sailing on Inle Sea (USD 38): We have reserved a half days cruise on the sea through the city.
It can be very cool, especially in the early mornings, so please take a hot sweater with you. Kak Ku pagodas (cost $95 ): it is a 2.5 hours drive to Kakku and we stayed about 90min. All kinds of moments: Lodging: Mt Popa Resort It was all the pennies it took for this inflinity swimmingpool and it was one of our favorite evenings of the year!
Have a look at our rating of this breathtaking property here. By taxi to Nguang Schwe (USD 15): this is the primary entrance to Inle Lake and the JJ Expressbus picks us up here. JJ Journey from Inle to Bagan (USD 15): The coach departed Nguang Schwe at 10am and took about 8 hrs to get to Kyaukpadaung, which was nearest to Mount Popa.
Kyaukpadaung to Mount Popa Reserve (15.000 kyat): we say cab, but what we really mean are two teens with one of them! So we thanked the skies for our navigation system to guide them to the hospital! The typical food with beverages on the day we had dinner at the motel was $30 to $40.
There you have it: 1 of our Myanmar adventure every single week.
