Best Month to Visit MyanmarMyanmar Best Month to Visit
During a month-long backpacking tour I met under a dozen other travellers.
is the best way to see Myanmar when you travel to Myanmar.
Travelling to Myanmar (or Burma) has long been in favour of many visitors who want to immerse themselves in the mysterious South East Asia countryside. Burma is nice and appealing for year-round pleasure, but it doesn't mean you should go on a Myanmar tour with an empty mind about the country's rain.
Naturally the trip will be very succesful and satisfying if you know the best times to come to Myanmar. Although you can discover Myanmar all year round, you know the land has two different seasons: humid and arid! With the rainy period at its height, some areas of Myanmar are not accessible.
It is possible to see the centres of the country during the wet season, but the isolated areas and the expansive deltas are inaccessible due to the muds and the thunderstorm. Myanmar's mountain resorts, Himalayan spurs and temperate waters are affected by the coldness, especially at nigh. The altitudes are much colder than the coast and the south.
Because of the tropic weather, Burma has some seasonal changes that come directly from the thunderstorm. During the first arid month (March and April) and the first rainy month (May and June) it is often the warmest time of the year as the temperature reaches its peak. Bagan and Mandalay plain are the dryest areas of Myanmar as they stay quite arid despite much of the country's yearly rainfall.
So in a nutshell, when are the best few weeks to go to Burma? The best times are from November to February. It' when the Burmese climate is typical and quite chilly. This is why many experienced tourist take the "mid season" (the side of the high season) as the best holiday in Myanmar, as the climate is very good, not too chilly and not too warm.
October is also the perfect moment to find a good equilibrium between meteorological and tourist offers. The Ananda Temple Festival for religion takes place in Bagan in January. In February the Kyaik Khauk Pagoda Festival is celebrated in Thanlyin, Syria. In the same months the Maha Myat Muni Pagoda takes place in Mandalay.
For matches, the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon is celebrating and the Shwezagan Pagoda Festival in Maymyo. The Thingyan Water Festival will entertain many visitors from April 12 to 17 (Burmese New Year). In October or November the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival is held in Inle. In November you are invited to the Shwezigon Pagoda Festival.
