In Asia, tens of thousands are protesting against the prosecution of Burmese Rohingya Muslims.

DHAKA, Bangladesh - On Friday tens of thousand Bangladeshis walked the city' s roads to demonstrate against the prosecution of Rohingya Muslims in Burma, one of several similar demonstrations in the area. They sang Stop killing Rohingya Muslims and walked in Dhaka when the Burmese state of Rakhine saw an escalation of violent events that forced out-of-house.

Demonstrators from several Muslim groups burnt a portrait of Burmese head Aung San Suu Kyi and a Burmese flagg. The banner with the inscription "Open frontier to the rescue of the Rohingya". Bangladesh's south-eastern frontier is Burma. The Amnesty International legal group also asked Bangladesh not to force Rohingya back to Burma.

As many as 500,000 indocumented Rohingya have lived in Bangladesh since the 1970' after they arrived in Wellen from Burma. About 33,000 Rohingya migrants have been recorded in two refugee camp locations in the south Cox' s Bazar area. According to reports in the country's internal press, several thousand Rohingya Muslims have come to Bangladesh this past weekend with the help of traffickers, but the police have not confirmed this.

Major General Abul Hossain, General Manager of the Bangladesh Boat Patrol, said on Friday that "only a few" came by boat. Bangladesh Boundary Guard did not allow at least a couple of Rohingya vessels to come to Bangladesh on Thursday, said Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jar Al Jahid, a commander in command of the Cox' Bazaar's Teknaf area.

At Amnesty International, Burma and Bangladesh's reluctance to embrace the harassment of Rohingya Muslims was denounced. "The Rohingya are under pressure from the insensitive activities of both the Burmese and Bangladesh government. They are being driven back by the Bangladesh government as they flee the Burmese people. Burma's Burmese police are launching random retaliatory strikes against Rohingya in reaction to an attack on three frontier stations on 9 October, in which nine frontier officials were murdered, the right-wing group said in a declaration on Thursday.

This group said it had received reports from Burmese police headed by the army shooting at village people from helicopters, burning down hundred of houses, making indiscriminate detentions and violating the rights of wives and sisters.
