The Bago Township or Pegu Township is a community in the Bago district in the Bago region of Burma. Township, Myanmar with population statistics, maps, map and location. Before 2012, the Bago Oblast was formally divided into two different areas - Bago East and Bago West (Official Gazette of the General Administration). There would be an inland area, if not for about 60 km of coast along the Andaman Sea, and divides the state boundaries with Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Rakhine, Magway, Naypyitaw, Kayin and Mon.

Bago is the capitol. The Bago region is 39,405 sq km and comprises 28 municipalities. This is the fifth largest state in the state with an approximate number of inhabitants of 4.85 million (2011 HMIS data) or 123 persons per sqkm. Part of Bago (4 of the east townships) has one of the most severe land mine contaminations in the land and, with Kayin, the highest number of registered deaths.
