The USDP's 2010 and 2015 presidential term can be very challenging to secure. During 2010, the National-Democratic Party (NLD) was boycotting the former army government poll. The USDP struck the ANP and Dutch Liberal Democratic Party (NLD) in 2015 to take over the two Ann im Pyithu Hluttaw and Rakhine Landtag states.
The Kyaukphyu District Electoral Committee says that the nominees for April 1 are Dr. Aye Maung of ANP, U Zaw Win Myint of NLD, U Thaung Nyein of USDP and the impartial nominee U Zaw Lin Aung. Prior to Ann, he left his parliamentary office in Rambre in 2015.
"It is a contest between the Arakan National Party and the Rakhine community for voter confidence in us," said U Tun Aung Kyaw, ANP Executive Director and youth promotion leader. According to the USDP, U Thaung Nyein is a former civil servant in the educational group.
The NLD nominee is a business man, as is the independant firm of telephone accessory store owner Zaw Lin Aung. The people living in Ann said they were interested in the nominees and the by-election. Ú Lin Lin Lin Lin Tun of Station 3, Tat Taung Dorf in Ann, said that the locals will not only look at the political parties, but will vote for the most able nominees who can best minister to them.
"It is not good enough for the officials who won the last parliamentary elections, so we must think carefully.
Myanmar times has repeatedly asked NLD and USDP nominees for comment during the election period, but without success. Ann's independents, U Zaw Lin Aung, said he is trying more than the other nominees to get through to the electorate to try to break the high profiles of his rivals from celebrity politicians.
Ann's Pyithu Hluttaw residence, won by USDP contender U Thein Swe, was released in March last year when he was selected by the NLD administration as Secretary of Labor, Migration and Population. 2. In view of the present status in the state of Rakhine, it will remain to be seen who will be the decisive winner of Ann-Sitz.
