Flights in Myanmar

Nuclear routes such as Yangon to Mandalay and Yangon to Bagan have frequent, direct connections; the number of direct flights between Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw is also increasing. You can be sure whether you are flying for business or pleasure. Travelling through the maze of long-haul transports can be a headache when travelling through Myanmar. At the beginning of December I travel to Myanmar for the first time with my partner.

Besides, I have to travel from Bagan to Phuket on a single day.

Myanmar Transportation and Safety Guide

This article explains our argumentation about ethic travel: Don't be surprised by uneven streets and challenging terrain on your way through Myanmar. Pre-schedule to make the journey from A to A an enjoyable experience with these safety experts' advice. Myanmar's streets are, by all accounts, bad.

Today there are ten carriers in Myanmar: Burma Airways, Air Bagan, Air KBZ, Air Mandalay, Apex Air, FMI Air, Golden Myanmar Airways, Mann Yadanarpon Airways, Myanmar National Airways and Yangon Airways.

Burma Airways is run by the goverment and is known for its very bad security ratings. A number of injuries occurred in 2009 when a Myanmar Airways plane slipped off a take-off and landing strip. There are other carriers that are of much better qualitiy and generally offer safer and more effective means of transport. It can be said, of course, that all aviation involves a certain amount of risks.

It is still a very common means of public transit in Myanmar. If you want to drive from Kawthaung to Myeik by car, for example, you have to rely on this mode of public transit because there is no one. Earthquakes can also lead to disruptions to travelling and security worries. The cyclone Nargis, which struck Myanmar in 2008, claimed almost 140,000 deaths.

Myanmar has many other transport possibilities, from boating to bicycles and horse-drawn carriages, all of which have their own advantages and disadvantages. On the way to Myanmar?
