New SilkAir multi-city Myanmar flight starts
From 31 October SilkAir will start its stop-over flights between Singapore and Yangon-Mandalay and will be returning to the insular state with a one-way ticket. "The Myanmar authorities will authorize SilkAir to make a stop. If you are a businessman or tourist, you can fly from Singapore and do your shopping or visit Yangon for a few nights and then drive to Mandalay.
"After the Mandalay tour you can return to Singapore with SilkAir. This is a plane ticket for two cities," said Singapore's Singapore embassy in Myanmar, Robert Chua, in a recent Myanmar Times press statement. SIKAir is the local flight of Singapore Airlines. There are currently 60 weekly services between Myanmar and Singapore.
Myanmar tourism to Singapore is growing as the insular state introduced visa-free travel for Myanmar nationals in December 2016. The Singapore Tourism Board reports that the number of Myanmar residents will continue to rise in the first half of 2017, with nearly 76,000 arrivals, an increase of 28% year-on-year.
"SilkAir is a global carrier that can take the rest of the country to Myanmar. He said, "It will help Myanmar's economy from the break. "We always know the three favourite places in Myanmar - Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan, so this stopover," he said.
