Sakhin Dev Burman (October 1, 1906 - October 31, 1975) was an indian musical curator and musician. As a member of the Tripura family he started his carreer in 1937 with Bengali filming. He later began to compose for Hindi cinema and became one of the most popular Bollywood score writers.

His Burmese musical work has been written for over 100 feature film productions, among them Hindi and Bengali film. 1 ] He is not only a multifaceted musician, but also performed Bengali Lieder in a slight semi-classical and popular styles. Rahul Dev Burman, his grandson, was also a acclaimed Bollywood film musician. At the end of the 1920s, S D Burman began working as a radiosinger at Calcutta Station, when his work as a singer-composer was founded on Bengali folklore and Hindustani-Classic.

In the following ten years he peaked as a vocalist and performed up to 131 Bengali tunes for the likes of Himangsu Dutta (8), RC Boral (1), Nazrul Islam (4), Sailesh Das Gupta (2) and Subal Das Gupta (1). 6 ] He also performed for Madhavlal Master (1) and Sohn RD Burman (1).

His movie début was in Yahudi ki Ladki (1933), but the tracks were scraped and re-sung by Pahari Sanyal. Sanjher Pidim (1935) was his first movie as a vocalist. Disappointed by Mumbai materialsism, Burman incompletely abandoned Ashok Kumar star Mashaal (1950) and took the decision to take the first plane back to Calcutta.

During the 1950s Burman joined forces with Dev Anand's Nav Ketan Productions to produce hit musicians such as Taxi Driver, Nau do Gyarah (1957) and Kala Paani (1958). He also gave concerts for Munimji (1955) and Paying Guest (1957). Mohamed Rafi and Kishore Kumar's tunes became well known. Burmese composer for Dev Anands productions Navketan's first movie Afsar (1950).

He made it to the top with the release of her second movie Baazi (1951) and a long collaboration with Navketan and Dev Anand was on the way. "Baazi's" jazz music unveiled a new aspect of vocalist Geeta Dutt, who was best known for her melancholic tunes and Bhajan. Whilst every track in the movie was a smashing hit, one of them was distinguished by a particular charm - "Tadbir se Bigdi Hui Taqdeer", a hazal that was transformed into a tempting one.

The" jaal"-song "Yeh rat yeh Chandni " by Hemant Kumar is a great classical of all times. Lata Mangeshkar's song'Thandi Hawain' from Naujawan (1951) was one of his first great songs. He also composed for the Guru Dutt guru classical songs - Pyaasa (1957) and Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959).

Devdas (1955) also wrote the music. Haus Nr. 44 (1955), Funtoosh (1956) and Solva Saal (1958) were further heroes. 1957 H.S.H. Burman dropped out with Lata Mangeshkar and adopted her younger brother Asha Bhosle as leader-vocalist. Asha Bhosle, the lyricists Majrooh Sultanpuri and S. D. Burman's Kishore Kumar became famous for their comedies.

Together with O. P. Nayyar he was in charge of forming Asha Bhosle as a renowned vocalist who became his daughter-in-law after she marries Rahul Dev Burman. Burman early in his carreer was refusing to have his actor voices lip-synced[6], which meant that his thin but strong tone was often used later in Hindi movies as a bartic comment on penetrating results,

like in " Ore Majhi Mere Sajan Sai Us Us Paar " by Bandini (1963), "Wahaan Kaun haai Tera" by Guide (1965) and lastly "Safal Hogi Teri Aradhana" by Aradhana (1969),[18] for which he was awarded the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the year, 1970. 1961 H.S.D. Burman and Lata Mangeshkar came together to record R.D. Burman's first track for the film Chhote Nawab (1961).

D. The Burmese relationship under the umbrella of NAV KETAN continues to produce hit music such as Bombai Ka Baboo (1960), Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963), Teen Devian (1965), Guide (1965) and Jewel Thief (1967). 1963 he wrote music for Meri Surat Teri Aankhen and Manna Dey performed the track "Poocho Na Kaise Maine" at the Ahir Bhairav Raba.

It also had a tune "Nache Mora Manwa Magan", performed by Rafi, and these became milestones in Hindus carols. Further S. D. Burman hit from this time were Bandini (1963) and Ziddi (1964). Sampooran Singh (known as Gulzar) made his lyrical début in Bandini with the lyrics to the tune "Mora Gora Ang lai le, muhe sham wrang danai de", although other Shailendra lyrics were used.

  • Guide ( "1965"), featuring Dev Anand, was probably the best[quote] of his work during this period with all the blockbusters and the movie; but unfortunately this year he was not awarded the Filmfare Award in the Best Musical Direction section, which always stayed a debate among the Bollywood movie pundits.

Kishore Kumar, songwriter Anand Bakshi and director Samanta. H.S.H. Burman composed the score for all of Aradhana's pieces, but soon after he became ill and gave the job of writing the soundtrack for the picture to his young, gifted boy R.D. Burman.

19 ] For the track "Mere Sapno ki raani" Sachin Dev R. D. had the oral organs played. Dev Anand and H.S.D. Burman continue their music collaboration in Prem Pujari (1969). H.S.H. Burman had a great deal of self-confidence and was very competent in his work. H.S.H. Burman fell into a nasty coma shortly after the rehearsal of the movie "Badi Solia Soli Soli " (sung by Kishore Kumar) for the movie Mili.

Death in Mumbai on 31 October 1975. Sachin was the only songwriter who had used both Rafi and Kishore in almost the same number of tracks. Kishore was considered his second child. And Kishore admitted that it was Sachin Da who had given him the first opportunity. After rehearsing "Badi Sooni Sooni Sooni Sooni" by Milli, when Sachin had a heart attack, Kishore went to the clinic and said to him: "Dada, don't be worried, your shot is after three working nights, you only see how well it's going.

UK vocalist of Southeast Asia's Najma Akhtar, made a Shanachie Records CD of Burman's work, The Music of S.D. Burman, an artist's cover of Burmese music.

Sachin Tendulkar, the cricket player from India, was christened after the author of Sachin's grandpa, who was a passionate supporter of Burman. Vocalist and mimicist Sudesh Bhonsle often spoofs the nasally high vocal and quotiotic vocal styles of S. D. Burman. Burmese combined with tobla masters Brajen Bison for his Bengali music.

Brajen Babu creates the beat or "Thekas" for these tunes, which are one-of-a-kind and nobody in the whole wide universe can perform these tunes in the primal "Thekas". All" Thekas" depend on the atmosphere of the music. However, the artist, sculptress and vocalist Ramita Bhaduri recently performed Burman's hard tunes such as "Ami Chinu aka", "Rangeela", "Aankhi Duti Jhare" etc. originally "theka" on Brajen Biswas's fairy tale.
