According to Thai history, at the fall of Ayutthaya in 1569, Thai Princess Suphankalaya together with her younger brothers (among them Prince Naresuan) was taken to Hansawaddy ( Bago ) as hostages  by Myanmar King Bayint Naung. There, she became King Bayint Naung's royal consort.
Unlike most people believe, King Bayint Naung did not destroy the City of Ayutthaya, instead he renovated the temples and pagodas of Ayutthaya and he even built a pagoda near the walls of Ayutthaya.  Bayint Naung let King Mahadhamarajathiraj ( the father of Suphankalaya) reigned Ayutthaya during the years 1569-1574 as a vassal to Myanmar. Suphankalaya is the grand daughter of the famous Thai Queen Suriyothai of Ayutthaya who died in 1548, defending Ayutthaya against the invading Myanmar forces of King Tapin-Shwet
i.  Suphankalaya is also revered as the elder sister of Prince Naresuan, a 16th-century Thai prince who killed an invading Myanmar prince in the battle. When the dead prince's father, King Nanda Bayin, heard the news, he demanded a revenge. He ordered that Suphankalaya, his hostage and consort, be tortured to death. It is a fine story, unfortunately, it may not be true. The princess appears in no school history books of Thailand. Until recently, she has been forgotten by the public and historians for over 400 years.
Ayutthaya was completely destroyed in
1767 by the Myanmar King Sin Byu Shin of Kon Baung Dynasty.
