@disqus_9VbX2TOvX7:disqus I’d see if you can get a tripod collar to fit that lens. You can’t mount one that heavy on a tripod without one it’s off balance.

The majority of use would be for my 14mm wide angle on my Nikon D810 for astrophotography but I also have some older Nikon lenses from my 35mm film era including an 80-200 F2.8 ED which would also share time on the tripod and it’s a 1.2Kg lens and has been solely responsible for breaking quick mount plate locks because of the weight. It’s the early model without the tripod shoe on the lens and if I fit a 2 times teleconvertor it’s even further forward weight wise.
Though the majority of use would also be at home because I don’t have the luxury of getting out much so weight isn’t a major factor, strength is.

@disqus_9VbX2TOvX7:disqus a better question for is – what camera and lenses are you putting on it? I would say 10 is stronger but 8 is lighter. So it’s a toss up
